CBSE Grants Relief to Unaffiliated Students: To Appear in Board Exams From Their Own Schools in 2025

Background:

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has recently announced a significant decision to provide relief to students who have not been able to secure admission in a CBSE-affiliated school for various reasons. According to the revised guidelines issued by the board, these students will be allowed to appear for the CBSE board examinations from their own schools in the year 2025.

Key Points:

Previously, students who were not enrolled in a CBSE-affiliated school were required to appear for the board exams as private candidates. This posed challenges for such students as they had to prepare for the exams on their own or through private coaching institutes.

The new decision by CBSE aims to provide a more equitable opportunity to all students by allowing them to appear for the board exams from their own schools, irrespective of whether the school is affiliated with CBSE or not.

To ensure a smooth transition, CBSE has directed all schools that are not affiliated with the board to follow the CBSE curriculum and syllabus for classes 9 and 10 from the academic session 2023-24.

Benefits for Students:

Implementation and Timeline:

The new guidelines will come into effect from the academic session 2023-24. Schools that are not affiliated with CBSE will have to apply to the board for affiliation by March 31, 2023.

Once the affiliation is granted, these schools will have to follow the CBSE curriculum and syllabus for classes 9 and 10. Students who pass the class 10 board exams from these schools will be eligible to appear for the CBSE board exams in class 12 in the year 2025.

Conclusion:

The decision by CBSE to allow unaffiliated students to appear for board exams from their own schools is a welcome move that will benefit a large number of students. This change is likely to level the playing field and provide all students with a fair chance to succeed in their academic pursuits.
