Ravens-Bengals Rivalry to Resume with Harbaugh Brothers at Helm
Oldest rivalry in NFL to resume with family twist
When the Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals meet in Week 5 of the 2023 NFL season, it will be more than just another game. It will be a family affair.
For the first time in NFL history, two brothers will be coaching against each other as head coaches. John Harbaugh, who has been the Ravens' head coach since 2008, will be facing off against his younger brother, Jim Harbaugh, who took over the Bengals in 2015.
A rivalry renewed
The Ravens-Bengals rivalry is one of the oldest, and most bitter, in the NFL. The two teams have met 53 times since 1996, with the Ravens holding a 27-26 advantage.
The rivalry has been particularly heated in recent years, with the Ravens winning the last four meetings. The Bengals, however, have won six of the last 10 meetings.
A family affair
The addition of the Harbaugh brothers to the rivalry adds a new layer of intrigue. John Harbaugh is the older brother, and he has been the more successful coach in the NFL.
Jim Harbaugh is the younger brother, and he has been the more successful coach in college football. He led the Michigan Wolverines to the College Football Playoff in 2021.
