Idaho Gives up Late Burst in First Loss of Season
Vandals Fall to No. 13 Weber State, 34-31
Late Weber State Touchdown Proves Costly
MOSCOW, Idaho — The No. 21 Idaho Vandals suffered their first loss of the season Saturday, falling to No. 13 Weber State, 34-31, at the Kibbie Dome.
The Vandals (2-1) led 24-21 midway through the fourth quarter before Weber State (3-0) scored the game-winning touchdown with 5:54 remaining.
Idaho had a chance to tie the game in the final minutes, but Mason Petrino's pass to Hayden Hatten fell incomplete on fourth down.
Petrino finished the game 18-of-34 passing for 236 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 60 yards and a touchdown.
Hatten led the Vandals with 84 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Weber State quarterback Bronson Barron threw for 286 yards and three touchdowns. Josh Davis caught two of Barron's touchdown passes.
The Vandals will return to action next Saturday when they host Northern Arizona.
