UNC Central to host Gardner-Webb after Simmons' 22-point performance
DURHAM, N.C. -- Simmons' team will host Gardner-Webb on Saturday.
North Carolina Central University (NCCU) will host Gardner-Webb University at home on Saturday, December 3, at 4 p.m. ET in McDougald-McLendon Arena.
This matchup will be the first meeting between the two schools since 2019.
Simmons leads NCCU to victory
NCCU is coming off an 82-74 win over Voorhees College on Tuesday, November 29. Senior forward Nicolas Simmons led the way for the Eagles with 22 points and 10 rebounds, his second double-double of the season.
Junior guard Justin Wright added 19 points for NCCU, while sophomore forward Kris Monroe chipped in with 14 points and eight rebounds.
The Eagles are now 5-4 on the season, including a 3-1 record at home.
Gardner-Webb looking to bounce back
Gardner-Webb is coming off a 78-68 loss to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) on Tuesday, November 29.
Junior guard Anthony Selden led the way for the Runnin' Bulldogs with 18 points, while sophomore forward Ludovic Dufeal added 16 points and 10 rebounds.
The Runnin' Bulldogs are now 4-5 on the season, including a 1-2 record on the road.
What to expect when Gardner-Webb visits NCCU
The game between NCCU and Gardner-Webb is expected to be a close one. Both teams are coming off losses and will be looking to bounce back with a win.
NCCU will be led by Simmons, who is averaging 16.3 points and 9.3 rebounds per game this season.
Gardner-Webb will be led by Selden, who is averaging 14.6 points per game this season.
