Aggies take down Vandals in season opener
UC Davis started its 2023 season with a 34-27 win over Idaho on Saturday at UC Davis Health Stadium.
The Aggies jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, but Idaho came back to tie the game at 24-24 in the third quarter.
UC Davis then scored 10 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.

Jake Maier was 26-of-40 passing for 331 yards and three touchdowns.
His favorite target was Darius Livingston, who had seven catches for 115 yards and a touchdown.
UCD's running game was led by Ulonzo Gilliam Jr., who had 15 carries for 78 yards.
Idaho's offense struggles
Idaho's offense struggled to get anything going against UC Davis's defense.
The Vandals were held to just 298 total yards and 10 first downs.
Michael Dean led Idaho with 108 passing yards and a touchdown, while Roshaun Johnson led UIdaho with 95 rushing yards.
UC Davis improves to 1-0, while Idaho falls to 0-1
With the win, UC Davis improves to 1-0 on the season.
The Aggies will travel to face Cal next Saturday.
