Tips To Avoid Mountain Lion Encounters
- Be aware of your surroundings and be alert for signs of mountain lions, such as tracks, scat, or prey remains.
- Make noise while hiking or camping to avoid surprising a mountain lion.
- Carry a whistle or air horn to scare away mountain lions.
- If you encounter a mountain lion, do not run. Instead, stand tall, make yourself look as large as possible, and back away slowly.
- If a mountain lion attacks, fight back with anything you can find, such as rocks, sticks, or your fists.
