Several Streets Near Capitol to Close for Lincoln Veterans Parade
Road Closures and Traffic Advisory
In preparation for the upcoming Lincoln Veterans Parade, several streets near the U.S. Capitol will be closed to traffic on Sunday, November 6, 2023. The closures will be in effect from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM EST.
The following streets will be closed:
- Constitution Avenue NW, between 1st Street NW and 3rd Street NW
- Independence Avenue NW, between 1st Street NW and 3rd Street NW
- 1st Street NW, between Constitution Avenue NW and Independence Avenue NW
- 3rd Street NW, between Constitution Avenue NW and Independence Avenue NW
Detours and Alternative Routes
Motorists are advised to avoid the affected area and use alternate routes. Detours will be posted, and DDOT will have personnel on-site to assist with traffic flow.
Public transportation is encouraged as the best way to reach the parade route. The closest Metro stations are Union Station and Capitol South.
Parade Information
The Lincoln Veterans Parade will begin at 11:00 AM EST on Sunday, November 6, 2023. The parade will proceed along Constitution Avenue NW, from 3rd Street NW to 7th Street NW.
The parade will feature veterans from all branches of the military, as well as marching bands, floats, and other special guests. The parade is free and open to the public.
