New-look USC eyes 2-0 start, faces Idaho State next
Lincoln Riley, Caleb Williams and new-look Trojans off to fast start
After a resounding 66-14 victory over Rice last week, No. 14 Southern California looks to continue its fast start to the 2022 season when it hosts Idaho State on Saturday.
Lincoln Riley enters his second season as coach of the Trojans and has quickly turned around a program that went 4-8 in 2021 - USC's worst record since 1991.
Caleb Williams, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, has been everything Riley could have hoped for and more at quarterback. He threw for 341 yards and four touchdowns in the opener.
Idaho State looking to improve to 2-0
Idaho State is looking to improve to 2-0 after a 42-14 victory over Division II Simon Fraser in its season opener last week.
The Bengals are led by quarterback Tyler Vander Waal, who threw for 271 yards and two touchdowns against Simon Fraser.
It will be a big step up in competition for Idaho State, which is playing its first FBS opponent of the season.
