Maddox scores 17, Mason wins 75-58
FAIRFAX, Va. -- Justin Maddox scored 17 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead George Mason to a 75-58 victory over North Carolina Central on Tuesday night.
The Patriots (2-2) overcame a 10-point deficit in the second half to earn their second straight win. They shot 47.1% from the field, including 11-of-28 from 3-point range.
The Eagles (0-3) were led by Kris Monroe's 15 points. C.J. Keyser added 12 points and Dontavius King had 10.
North Carolina Central led 37-27 at halftime, but Mason opened the second half with a 13-2 run to take a 40-39 lead. The Patriots extended their lead to 52-43 with a 12-4 run midway through the half.
NCCU cut the deficit to 54-49 with 8:02 remaining, but Maddox hit a 3-pointer to spark a 9-0 run that gave Mason a 63-49 lead with 4:10 left.
The Eagles never got closer than 10 points the rest of the way.
Mason was 11-of-18 from the free-throw line, while NCCU was 6-of-13.
The Patriots host Norfolk State on Saturday, while the Eagles host Campbell on Friday.
