Hubert Davis Impressed with Freshmen Performances Against Elon
Dominant Wins
The University of North Carolina men's basketball team won its season opener against Elon University on November 7th, 2023. The Tar Heels dominated the game, winning 100-61. Four freshmen scored in double figures for North Carolina.
Caleb Love led the way with 22 points, while Seth Trimble added 17. Jalen Washington scored 13 points, and Tyler Nickel had 10 points. Graduate transfer Pete Nance scored 16 points for North Carolina.

Afterward, the men shared their thoughts on the game and what led to such a dominant opening performance. Head coach Hubert Davis shared how impressed he was with his team's performance, particularly highlighting his freshmen.
"I thought our freshmen played really well," Davis said. "They came in and gave us a lot of energy. They were aggressive on both ends of the floor, and they made some big plays for us."
Continuing to Improve
Despite their impressive performances, Davis believes there's room for improvement.
"We still have a lot of things to work on, but I'm really excited about the potential of this team," Davis said. "We have a lot of talented players, and I think we can be a really good team this year."
