Galatasaray 3-2 Tottenham: Europa League – as it happened
Reaction
"We defended more than we wanted to, but the spirit of the team was there to fight," said Conte. "In the end we conceded three goals. We could have done better."
"We didn't play well, especially in the first half," added Lloris. "We gave them too much space and they created chances. In the second half we were better, but we conceded two goals in quick succession and it was difficult to come back after that."
The match
Tottenham Hotspur endured a frustrating evening in Istanbul as they suffered a 3-2 defeat to Galatasaray in the Europa League on Thursday.
The visitors took the lead through Son Heung-min in the 13th minute, but Galatasaray equalised through Bafetimbi Gomis just four minutes later.
Gomis put the Turkish side ahead in the 33rd minute, and Kerem Akturkoglu extended their lead in the 55th minute.
Harry Kane pulled a goal back for Tottenham in the 79th minute, but it was not enough to prevent them from slipping to a defeat that leaves their hopes of reaching the knockout stages hanging in the balance.
What it means
The defeat leaves Tottenham bottom of Group H with three points from four games. They are now three points behind Galatasaray and four points behind leaders Arsenal.
Tottenham must now win their remaining two group games against Ludogorets and Antwerp and hope that Galatasaray and Arsenal drop points in their matches.
