FIRST ALERT: Severe storm threat diminishing, but heavy rain likely
Radar indicates the squall line is weakening as it exits the region
Keep the umbrella handy as heavy rain lingers in wake of departing storms, the National Weather Service in Mount Holly said.
"The squall line that moved through the area weakened significantly as it passed Philadelphia, and radar shows it is continuing to weaken as it exits the region," the weather service said in a statement.
Storm threat diminishing, but heavy rain still possible
Showers likely to persist through evening
While the threat of severe weather has diminished, the weather service said, heavy rain is still possible, with showers likely to persist through the evening.
The service said the rain is expected to become more scattered overnight, with a chance of showers lingering into Tuesday morning.
But the severe weather threat has passed.
"The line of showers and storms continues to race eastward across New Jersey," the service said. "The severe threat has ended, but heavy downpours will continue to be possible with this line of storms over the next hour or so."
