Eli Iserbyt keeps his winning streak going at Cyclo-cross Koppenberg
Lars van der Haar not far behind for Baloise-Trek Lions 1-2 at Koppenbergcross
Iserbyt wins again, Van der Haar continues impressive start to the season
Eli Iserbyt (Pauwels Sauzen-Bingoal) continued his winning run in the 2022/23 cyclo-cross season, taking victory at the Koppenbergcross on Sunday.
The Belgian rider was in fine form throughout the race, attacking early on and quickly establishing a lead over his rivals.
Lars van der Haar (Baloise-Trek Lions) was the only rider who could stay with him, but he was unable to close the gap and had to settle for second place.
Iserbyt's victory was his fourth of the season, and he now leads the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup standings.
Van der Haar's second place finish was also a good result for the Dutch rider, who has now finished on the podium in all three of the World Cup races that he has contested this season.
The Koppenbergcross was the penultimate round of the 2022/23 UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup, with the final round taking place in Hoogerheide, Netherlands, on January 29.
Iserbyt will be the favorite to win the overall World Cup title, but Van der Haar and other riders will be hoping to challenge him for the victory.
Eli Iserbyt's winning streak
Iserbyt has been in imperious form this season, winning four of the five cyclo-cross races that he has contested.
His winning streak began at the X2O Trofee Kortrijk on October 16, and he has since gone on to win the X2O Trofee Herentals, the Superprestige Merksplas, and now the Koppenbergcross.
Iserbyt's form is a good sign for the Belgian rider, who will be hoping to win his first cyclo-cross world title in February.
Lars van der Haar's impressive start to the season
Van der Haar has also had a good start to the season, finishing on the podium in all three of the World Cup races that he has contested.
The Dutch rider finished third at the X2O Trofee Kortrijk and the Superprestige Merksplas, before finishing second at the Koppenbergcross.
Van der Haar will be hoping to continue his good form at the final round of the World Cup in Hoogerheide, and he will be one of the main challengers to Iserbyt for the overall title.
