Canucks' Derek Forbort out week-to-week with lower-body injury
Canucks defenseman Derek Forbort is expected to miss one to two weeks with a lower-body injury.
Forbort suffered the injury in the third period of the Canucks' 5-2 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday night.
The 29-year-old was injured when he was hit by Golden Knights forward Nicolas Roy in the corner boards.
Forbort left the game and did not return.
The Canucks recalled defenseman Brady Keeper from the American Hockey League's Abbotsford Canucks on Wednesday to take Forbort's spot on the roster.
Forbort has been a key member of the Canucks' penalty kill this season, averaging 2:30 of shorthanded ice time per game.
He has also contributed offensively, with one goal and three assists in 23 games.
The Canucks are already without defenseman Tyler Myers, who is out with a lower-body injury.
Myers is expected to miss at least two more weeks.
The Canucks are currently in last place in the Pacific Division with a record of 8-12-3.
They will host the Calgary Flames on Thursday night.
