Australia defeats Pakistan in historic cricket test

Australia's cricket team has defeated Pakistan by an innings and 5 runs in the first Test match of the series in Rawalpindi.

This is Australia's first Test win in Pakistan since 1998 and their first innings victory in Asia since 2011.

The match was evenly poised after the first day, with Pakistan reaching 245 for 3 at stumps. However, Australia took control of the game on the second day, bowling out Pakistan for 304 and taking a 158-run first-innings lead.

Australia then extended their lead to 236 runs on the third day, thanks to a century from Usman Khawaja and a half-century from Marnus Labuschagne.

Pakistan needed to bat out the final day to save the match, but they were bowled out for 268, with Nathan Lyon taking 5 wickets for Australia.

The victory gives Australia a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
